It is difficult to increase income from traditional beekeeping in log or wall hives because the amount of honey produced by bee colonies in traditional hives is very low and proper colony management is not possible. The log hives are placed on the balcony platforms or roofs affording them some protection

In order to undertake commercial beekeeping and maximize profit, colonies must be transferred from traditional to modern hives to enable improved colony management practices to be applied
